ABOUT THE CHARITY
Fassnidge Memorial Trust was established in 1994 to benefit:
Old persons residing in the area of the former Urban District of Uxbridge;
Old persons residing elsewhere in the London Borough of Hillingdon;
Any charitable purposes benefiting the inhabitants of the London Borough of Hillingdon. The Trustees (after payment of administrative and operational expenses) apply the income of the Charity's investments in the order of priority listed above.
There are eleven Trustees who meet approximately once a month to carry out the business of the Trust. The Trustees have a personal responsibility towards the Trust and make their decisions collectively at their meetings.
In 1994, the Trustees inherited three properties from Kate Fassnidge: Darren House, Fassnidge Memorial Hall and The Cedars- all on the High Street in Uxbridge. Darren House is leased and the Trustees therefore have no present control over this property. However, the Hall and The Cedars were in a state of disrepair, and so the Trustees first set about bringing these properties back to life; the Hall has since been completely rebuilt at the same location, incorporated within a block of flats and renamed The Kate Fassnidge Community Hall, Uxbridge. It opened its doors in the summer of 2019. The Cedars has been refurbished on a number of occasions and is now leased to Trinity Homeless Projects.
The Trustees subsequently acquired the Hall on the High Street, Northwood, which was demolished, rebuilt and renamed The Kate Fassnidge Community Hall, Northwood.
Both community halls are available for hire to community groups; please use the tabs on our homepage of this website for more details.
The Trustees have also inherited a large sum of money as a result of investment by the Council and of income from the properties. The Trustees are continuing to invest this wisely.
The income from all these investments is applied to operate the Charity and to benefit those living in the London Borough of Hillingdon, either individually or through other not-for-profit organisations.
