Kate Fassnidge Community Hall Northwood
opens as a temporary Library

March 2025: We are delighted that the Kate Fassnidge Community Hall in Northwood is being used temporarily by the council as a library, so residents can continue to access library services locally while the council's existing building is closed.

Our vice-chair Reeta Chamdal joined the mayor, council members and library staff, as well as members of the local community for the official opening which took place on 1st March 2025.
The temporary library offers a range of services, including book lending, computers, and an activities programme aimed at older residents.
Cllr Eddie Lavery, Cabinet Member for Community and Environment, said:
“We have decided to open this pop-up to provide a temporary solution while we are actively exploring various options for an alternative permanent library in Northwood.”

Fassnidge Memorial Trust Awards Grant to
Dovetail Dining Centre
October 2024: Fassnidge Memorial Trust has awarded the Dovetail Dining Centre a grant of £20,000 to enable it to continue to provide local residents with healthy and nutritious meals.

Dovetail Dining Centre, at the Hillingdon Park Baptist Church in Hercies Road, has been providing home-cooked lunches in a friendly and inclusive atmosphere since 1998. Some of its current members have been attending for over 10 years. The grant will ensure that the lunches, which are available Monday to Friday, can continue, despite funding from the local council being cut.

Adam Bennett, Chairperson at Fassnidge Memorial Trust, said: “Dovetail Dining Centre not only provides delicious food but also a safe environment and companionship. This is so important, particularly for the older members of our community who might not otherwise have an opportunity to socialise. Fassnidge exists to support older people and those in need across the London Borough of Hillingdon and we are delighted that by awarding this grant we are able to do just that.”

Judy Hazelgrove, Chair of Dovetail Community Outreach, said: “We were in danger of having to close down the Dining Centre due to the lack of funding. We are thrilled to receive the grant from Fassnidge Trust . It will enable us to continue supporting our clients and to welcome new faces to our Dining Centre.”
